Protein Powder

There are tons of protein powders out there that have different uses and benefits. This post will show you both the plant-based, and non plant-based powders that I recommend.

Everyday Protein Powder

Everyday protein powder is meant to use for, well, everyday. They contain vital nutrients, such as vitamins, minerals, probiotics, omega fats, amino acids, and some even a couple of servings of wholesome veggies.

Plant-Based

  1. Vega Protein & Greens

This everyday protein powder is my all time new favorite for a couple reasons: It is a great price for about $27 for a little over 2lbs; its blends great into all liquids; it doesn’t over power smoothies what so ever; and best of all, it tastes delicious!

For one scoop its 110 calories, 20g of protein, 6g of carbohydrates, and less than .5 grams of fat! To me, those are great macros for what this powder contains. It has 1.2 servings of greens, amino acids, and the protein is derived from 4 sources; hemp, sprouted brown rice, pea, and savi seeds.

2. Garden Of Life RAW Protein

This protein powder has over 10 different proteins in it! It also contains essential amino acids, probiotics and vitamins for approximately $28 on Amazon for 622g of it.

The flavor it also delicious, but it has a little bit of a chalky after taste (which can be over
looked) and it tends to settle when mixed in water, but other than that its a perfect everyday powder! For one scoop it contains 90 calories, 17g of protein, 6g of carbohydrates, and 0g of fat.

I only used plant-based powder as my everyday choice even when I did eat meat because I like how the powders contain vitamins, minerals, and nutrients my body needs (such as amino acids).

Post-Workout

Plant-Based

Vega Sport Performance Protein

This is my go-to powder for post workout. It’s smooth, creamy, and benefits you all over
for a more efficient recovery from your workout. It can be bought for about $54 at places such as GNC, The VitaminShoppe, and Target.

This powder contains ingredients such as turmeric and tart cherries for a quicker, and sustainable recovery. With one scoop, 150 calories, you get 30g of protein, 2g of carbohydrates, 3g of fat, plus probiotics and amino acids!

Non Plant-Based

Bodylogix Whey Protein Powder

This used to be my favorite post-workout powder. It’s a mixture of cold-pressed whey, isolate, and amino acids(whey peptides) for a high quality post-workout drink. I would add either PB2 and banana to it, or some berries for a balanced post-workout beverage. It never over powered other ingredients and has a subtle vanilla flavor that compliments all ingredients in a smoothie.

For $25 you get 1.85lbs; one scoop contains 120 calories, 24g of protein, 3g of carbohydrates, and 1g of fat!
